George Eli (Ely) Turner served with the East African Ordnance Department from 13 November 1914. He was granted a temporary commission in November 1916. In 1919 he was gazetted - Officer of the Order of the British Empire (LG Feb 1919). Victory Medal has insignia for a MiD, however, this award cannot be confirmed.
Online research indicates that George Eli Turner was born in London in 1886 and passed away in Cape Town in 1952.
