QSA with 5 clasps: (Belmont, Modder River, Driefontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill) named to: 1349 Pte. W. E. Brider, Cldstm: Gds
William Edward Brider was born in South Kensington, London. He joined the army at the age of 18 in 1898 and signed on to short service with the Coldstream Guards. Regimental records indicate he was returned to England in 1902 to participate in the coronation of King Edward VII - thus he likely received the coronation medal as well. He served with the regiment for 12 years, being discharged in 1910. He appear to not have had further military service and passed away in Middlesex in 1918.
