Queen’s Sudan Medal: 3368 Pte. J. King 1/R. Wark. R.
John James King was born at St. Pancras, London. He was serving in the militia (3/Royal Fusiliers) when he joined the Royal Warwickshire Regiment in 1891. He served his 7 years with the colours, at home, in Ceylon, Malta and Sudan for which he was additionally awarded the Khedive’s Sudan Medal with two clasps. He was recalled for service in 1899 and served in South Africa until being discharged medically unfit in September 1900. He was awarded the Queen’s South Africa Medal with clasps ‘Cape Colony’ and ‘Orange Free State’.
