On leaving the Inniskilling Dragoons after 8 years good service – 7-1-10
Robert Ross was born in Ballymena, Antrim, Ireland. He joined the 8th Hussars at Belfast in 1902 but was soon transferred to the 6th (Inniskilling) Dragoons. He served at home and in Egypt for 2 years, transferring to the Army Reserve in 1910. He served in the Reserve until 1914. He received no medals for this service but did manage to contract both gonnhorea and syphilis. Following his army service, Ross emigrated to Canada and lived in Lambton County, Ontario. He passed away in 1954 and is buried in Sarnia.
