India General Service Medal 1854 with clasps "Burma 1885-7, Burma 1887-89" named to: 1823 Private G. Boulton 2nd Bn. R. W. Surr. R.

George Boulton was born in Stoke-Upon-Trent, Staffordshire. He was serving in the Militia (3rd Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment) when he attested to the North Staffordshire Regiment (Regular Army) at Lichfield in 1884 and assigned regimental number 1211. He served with the North Staffordshire Regiment for over 2 years and was then renumbered (1823) when he volunteered to be transferred to the Royal West Surrey Regiment in 1886. He served in the East Indies for approximately a year before serving for over 5 years in Upper Burma 1886-92 for which service he was awarded the India General Service Medal. Following his regular service, Boulton transferred to the Army Reserve and completed his service there in 1896. Recalled to army service on mobilisation in 1900, he saw additional service in South Africa for which he was awarded the Queen's South Africa Medal. He was discharged in 1901.

Suspension somewhat slack and claw appears to have been retightened at some point.
