In November 1917 he was drafted into the CEF. Proceeding to England in February 1918 he then went to France with the 116th Battalion in August. On 29 September he was initially reported as missing, and then as a prisoner of war. He was released following the armistice and returned to Canada via England where he was discharged in 1919. Following the war he resided in Hamilton, Ontario and passed away in Campbelford, Ontario in 1965.
